An Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) medical examination is for offshore workers in the oil and gas industry.
Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) is the leading trade body for the North Sea energy sector.
Only medical practitioners registered with Offshore Energies UK (formerly Oil and Gas UK) can perform OGUK medicals. Jobfit has approved practitioners to conduct OGUK medicals for offshore environments. In addition, these medical practitioners can provide OGUK accredited medical certificates.
All approved practitioners have knowledge of the offshore environment and have undertaken a training program in offshore medical assessment.
MEDICAL ASSESSMENT
An OGUK medical includes:
- Medical history, including vaccine review
- Physical examination
- Audiometry (hearing test)
- Spirometry (lung function test)
Depending on individual circumstance you may also require:
- Vaccinations
- Drug and alcohol screen
Moreover, pre-placement may include a drug screen, depending on the operator’s requirements. As such, this medical can include an Instant Drug & Alcohol test if requested at an additional cost.
If you are in good health, it generally takes about 60 minutes with the doctor and nurse.
An OGUK accredited medical certificate result is valid for 2 years if the individual is deemed medically fit. Some persons may be given certificates of shorter duration if they have medical problems that need earlier review.
The price of an OGUK Medical conducted at a Jobfit centre is $399.30 (incl GST). In addition, a credit card surcharge is payable.
