Jobfit endorses workplace COVID vaccinations

22 July 2021 | News

Australia’s COVID vaccination rates could be boosted by supporting employers to facilitate vaccinations for their staff at work, says leading occupational health provider Jobfit Health Group.

Steven Harvey, Managing Director of Jobfit Health Group, said his organisation supported the Federal Government’s and major corporations’ consideration to use workplaces to assist with the vaccination rollout.

“From our experience, the uptake of vaccinations is very positive when it is provided through the support of their employer,” he said.

“We would encourage the Government, both State and Federal, to support employers to offer COVID vaccinations to employees free-of-charge, with employers to manage the logistics, employee time and necessary resources.

“Providing vaccinations at work is one of Jobfit’s major services with which we have significant experience in partnering with employers.

“Jobfit has medical teams ready to be deployed on-site to run COVID vaccination hubs at Australian workplaces. We are eager to help with the rollout if and when the government’s plan is approved.

“We can also support employers with educating their employees on the COVID vaccine and providing the relevant information so that they can make an informed decision.”

With a track record of delivering other vaccines, such as flu vaccines, to thousands of Australian workplaces, Jobfit Health Group is accustomed to the COVID vaccine’s storage and logistic obligations.

“We also have exceptional technology to manage the booking process for the required two doses of COVID vaccination,” said Mr Harvey.

“In workplace flu vaccination programs, doses are administered by Jobfit’s registered nurses with support from our national doctor team, a model that would work for COVID vaccinations too.

“External resources may need to be considered if there’s high demand from employers.

“This could include having paramedics, final year or graduating medical students, and pharmacists trained in the administering of COVID vaccines, so that they can be quickly deployed into workplaces if required.”
